It'll probably be the pressure regulator O ring. Getting more common as the age of Freelander's increase. It won't be a throttle body problem as there isn't one. As for a coms problem. Coms from what to what? Is could be an immobiliser coms issue I suppose, but that isn't common at all.

I presume it's the wiring to the throttle body but didn't think diesels had throttle bodies only on the petrol models. Which bit do u call the pressure regulator then?? I'm a bit new to the freelander set up.

The regulator is on the High pressure fuel pump which is fitted above the alternator, also by the starter motor, it is best to remove the starter motor to gain access to the regulator, you will need a torx driver to remove it, and fit the O-ring kit which you will also need to purchase from the link below.

There's no wiring to the throttle body because there isn't a throttle body. The TD4 engine is just a common rail diesel of early 2000s design.
The pressure regulator O ring is the most likely cause.
Follow Arctic2's advice to get it running again.

Still havin starting problems with freelander done the o rings on the fuel pressure regulator anybody got any more ideas??

Wiring to the fuel rail sensor is another place to check. There is an overlay harness available, to cure the rusty contacts problem.
