Hi after a head gasket replacement ,I charged battery and put it all back together, this is a new starter on here (as I blamed it, when it was really a failing head gasket!) not getting it to turn over ,I can rotate engine via the crank nut and even moved it back a bit with it in gear this way, so I assume all is well bottom end.. I have attempted to video the noise, that doesn't upload so am looking for a host to link to ,in the mean time ... it really just goes click just one click not joined up clicks or any whirring noises. what do you think was looking forward to getting her about again. thanks In advance..

Clicking starters are almost always due to poor connections. Check +ve connections to starter and battery and -ve at battery and all earth straps.

Thanks for the prompt reply ,I have checked them all ,undone, done back up. wire brushed!
I might take it off and fit another tomorrow I have a spare, just in case I have a faulty one, just waiting for my incredibly slow broadband to upload 20 second video of the noise ,i'll stick a link on when it works.

Sounds like it could be just the starter solenoid clicking. If to have a multimeter you could check the live terminal on the end of the starter motor. It should be permanently live.

Thank you all !!!! it was an earth problem , new lead fitted all is well, she started up with a cough and splutter after 3 months off and just went for a spin ,no leaks all is well with the world..now what am I going to do?
