I was having problems starting my sIIA i noticed the + contact on the solenoid was loose and went in to tighten it, you guessed it, the spanner earthed on on the starter motor i think and there was a bang. I left it for a while.
The electrics come on when starting and i get the yellow preheat light and then just a click, i think this must be the solenoid, but the starter does not turn at all.
Anyone any advice? i probably have the skill to remove the starter motor and then take it to some one.
Thanks

Sounds like you starter solenoid is zapped. Cheapest way is to get another one and try it. It will not be your fuses as the solenoid is clicking, so it is the solenoid or the starter.

If you car is old enough the solenoid will have a rubber button in the middle. Press that and the starter should turn. Don't do that in gear standing at the front BTW!
