Hi All!!

Upon starting the Rangie up yesterday I had noticed the header tank needed topping with a few slugs of antifreeze....as it has the last couple of times. Needless to say I traced this to a leaky top hose.

Im trying to get the engine bay looking smart, and I have blue filters, blue Magnecore leads and plans to polish up the rocker covers, inlet manifold and carbs. I reckon a nice shiny stainless top hose with blue silicone either end will fit right in and be a lasting replacement....do any of you know of a reasonably priced kit I can look at? Cheers!

Got any pics? I would be interested to see how it looks. I've done a bit on my 4.6 in my classic, powdercoated plenum, silicone hoses, alloy coolant and power steering reservoirs.

Cheers for the link Datatek, will have a gander on there!

Zen the overbraiding would be cheaper and a good idea, but I think the longevity of the stainless hose is a factor I'm after too, just want it as reliable as poss!

WOW! That sounds good! I'll post pics as soon as I've done it but all i've got at the mo is the filters and leads....lol gotta start somewhere! I've also got a new piper cam, tappets and timing gear....and a new electronic dizzy, so when me and Dad do this work i'll probably whip the polish out then as it'll be pretty stripped down! :) Out of interest, where did you get your silicone hoses from? And do you have any pics?

This is a pic of what it was like just after the 4.6 went in. It looks a bit different now as I have the LPG kit back in, but running with a Blos LPG carb. The 4.6 was lightened and balanced, mid-valves, semi-ported heads, rhodes lifters, John Eales 2665 cam and a Mark Adams Tornado chip to suit.

Like you, while doing the work I thought why not make it look a bit different so had the plenum, sump and rocker covers powdercoated, bought the coolant reservoir from Allisport, the power steering reservoir was given to me and the top hose came from here: LR Range Rover Classic V8 2 piece main hose kit 2 - £136.00 : ACT Performance Products Ltd, - your source for TVR upgrades, components and performance accessories. but I didn't bother with the bottom hose. I then bought the other hoses from Silicone Hoses - AutoSiliconeHoses.com ® - Buy Silicon Hoses Direct or Call 0844 8000 669 I still need to do something about the underside of the bonnet, then i might do the inner wings this year.

Where have you bought your tappets from? Just a warning, but my Dad's P38 has just had to have some work done on his 4.6, it looks like new the tappets that went in to his newly built engine only 5000 miles ago were no good and his cam is now knackered.
