The exhaust is blowing at the join between the front pipe and middle section. Inspection has revealed the flanges are pretty rusty and on their last legs. The pipes are OK so seems a pity to replace the whole system particularly considering the CAT is supplied as part as the front pipe which makes it expensive £400 plus just for the front pipe. I am trying to find a way of repairing the joint. It has recently been bodged to pass MOT but would like to find a more permanent solution.

I have come across a split flange repair on youtube (in USA) but not been able to find such things in UK.

I know someone who will weld me new flanges on but he requires me to take my exhaust to his workshop and the front pipe with CAT attached looks about impossible to remove.

I am now wondering if I could cut the flanges off and use a flexi section of exhaust pipe to join the 2 sections???

I used one of these, can't find my order so this is what's current ... Flexy ...

I welded it on as a vibration damper 'cos my exhaust is a tad short, and vibrated a lot 'cos I mounted it without rubbers. This has cured it .. :)

Not sure if it'll work without welding, but if you look further on ebay there are some with longer ends and if you use U-clamps I'd hazard an educated guess that it would work, 'specially with exhaust paste.

I bought one of these a while ago to go in my emergency repairs box.

My hope is that with nothing more than this, a hacksaw, small adjustable and a tube of fire gum and I should be mobile again.

Thanks for replies. Have ordered a 63mm x 200mm clamp on which includes clamps and exhaust gum £13.95. Definitely worth a try. Measured existing exhaust at 61mm/62mm. Might be a slack fit but 60mm would not fit.
