Hi,
I am in Fife, Scotland and have a 95 Disco 3.9 V8 EFI ES 7 seater.
Approx 3 years back my SRS light came on and I booked it for diagnostics at the stealership. They cleared the light and took it for a road trial and informed me that they could not confirm the reason for the warning light appearing, and it was not illuminated. They said that as the vehicle was over 10 yrs old LR recommended that the air bag modules should be replaced (aprox £1800 ) . The disco failed its MOT 2 weeks later due to the all to familiar rusty (non existant) rear crossmember / chassis mounts.
The disco was taken off the road (SORN) and not used until Dec 2011, when I took the disco have the new crossmember installed.

In the meantime the battery was charged a few times and the engine run whilst it was SORN, and the SRS light is back on.

The Disco now has a full MOT, (as I manged to squeeze it in on 30th Dec 2011, before the new MOT laws came in :D).

Is there anyone in or around the Fife region, who can help with resetting the SRS system, and if neccessary doing a diagnosis.

As a first step I have tried changing the Rotary coupler, but I fear that changing a faulty part will not clear the SRS light on its own, it will have to be reset.

Whilst I am diagnosing the issue, I dont want to have to pay stealership rates, to clear the fault light each time it comes on.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I know Mike, and I have used him in the past for diagnostics and I get parts from him. I recommend him to others as he and his team there are knowlegeable and helpful.
I just wondered whether there was anyone else local?,

Update and closure.

I was quoted an hours labour to plug their diagnostics in for the SRS this time at the local stealership.
However I called Mike today, and asked him to take a look. He read the fault code registered in the SRS memory. (Bad connection to airbag module), cleared it, it all took less than 10 minutes. I now have the SRS light extinguished, and the reason the warning light came on in the first place.:D
The mechanic told me that if the SRS warning light comes on, even if you fix the issue, you still have to have the SRS reset. It wont reset it self.

All I can say is the local stealership are a bunch of thieves, telling me it would take an hour. (As if I didnt already know that:doh:)
