a thanks to mozz for his invaluable help to get my rangie up and running now thats sorted any idea how to turn red light off my P38 MOT coming soon and new MOT laws etc means it will fail

Remove four screws securing instrument binnacle to dashboard.

Remove SRS bulb.

Replace instrument binnacle.
Errrr....Yes and errrrrr No..!!

That will fix the symptom, but not the problem...lest you want is to be involved in an incident only to find yourself or your dearly beloved buried in the dashboard due to a malfunctioning Air Bag....

Get it on a Fault Reader and check the codes....

Also depending on year, the wiring harness to the Pyros for the Seatbelts are a notorious place for poor connection....can't miss the harnes it's bright yellow!!!

Get codes read and cleared and see where you stand, before an accident leaves you in a position where you can't.

Wont pass MOT - need to be ON with ignition on then go OUT so thats a FAIL

OP: If it flashes on/off its probably one of the bulbs (There's 2)
If it stays on its either a fault or a hard fault which only can be cleared with diagnostic -
so if it isn't a bulb get it on a code reader, i paid a tenner for having mine cleared at an indie. Reason was battery problems in the past

The other regular failure point is the rotary coupler behind the steering wheel. Get yourself a Nanocom Evo and read the faults, it will save you cash in the long run.

Why do people always assume the worst case scenario ??????

I have reset many SRS indicators on the P38 when I had the Faultmate. In 99% of the cases it was battery related, usually the battery had been left to go dead flat. It is just a "Press reset and go". Because the SRS is safety critical, it will log it as a "Hard" fault so forget disconnecting your battery and walking three times round the car ringing the Hari Krishna bells, it won't work !!! Will take all of 5 mins to reset, followed by a trip to the pub for a couple of hours !!:beer2::beer2::smokin:
