Hi, I have a P38, 1997 2.5 Lt. THe SRS light is on - no apparent reason. Connection somewhere ? Has anyone any ideas where the fault might be ?
(It comes back on - immediately after clearing with diagnostics):rolleyes:

I think your car is too early to have side airbags, but if it has look at the connectors under the seats, the ones with yellow wires. another possibility is the connections to the steering wheel airbag.
Otherwise, if the car is new to you, it could be a sign that it has had an accident. RAVE states that the SRS DCU has to be replaced if an airbag has been triggered as it cannot be re-set once triggered.
Don't attempt to work on the SRS until the battery has been disconnected for at least 10 minutes or you could get a face full of airbag:eek:

My SRS has bin "ON" fer 3 years ... I never bother with it ....Taint an MOT issue so it aint that important !!!

(As a side issue, I know WHY mines on ..... Previous owner disconnected the battery & left it off fer MONTHS ...SRS is a "Hard Fault" & can only be cleared by Testbook ..(As I aint THAT RICH I have never bothered tekkin it to LR to reset the fault light)

When my SRS light stayed on a while back I changed the steering rotary coupler. I had other issues aswell, no horn or stereo control via the steering wheel. Since changing it, eveything works 100%. SRS light has never returned and did not have to be cleared by testbook it never came back on after fitting the new coupler and that was over a year ago.
