Hi again. SRS light came on today. Madrid and back tomorrow, is it safe to drive with the SRS light on? 700km.
 
What’s the worst that could happen?
A face full of pillow when you don’t want (unlikely) or no face full of pillows if you did need them.

But in general I would say no issue.

I don’t know freelanders though but they is all the same.

Srs is usually the spring in the steering column
If you're VERY careful (the airbag disconnected after battery disconnected for 10 to 20 mins) you can meter it out.
 
I don't understand 'meter it out'. Does it sound like I need a new clock spring?
The clock spring in the steering column carries wiring for air bag, horn and steering wheel volume controls.
I once had a Freelander with a dead horn so took the airbag off and metered out the connections. Mine was an S and didn't have steering wheel volume controls so I reconnected the horn to use the spare paths. You might be able to do something similar.
It isn't difficult but you need to be very careful to do it right to avoid a loud bang. o_O

If the horn and volume controls still work, as they do, does that rule out the clock spring being faulty?
 
You will need a specific Land Rover code reader for the SRS system. You will be looking for driver's airbag fault which more than likely is the weak spot with the clock spring wires.
 
Would the diagnostics on a 2004 Freelander show where the fault is or just give a generic "it's faulty" code?
They don't even have CAN at the ODB2 port. :oops:
