Hi all

Looking at painting the old girl. have a compressor and a HVLP spray gun.

I have sprayed chassis in the past and bits and bobs. never tried painting a complete car though.

Would like to paint it in cellulose paint as i don't fancy cyanide poisoning from Two Pack.

If i manage to find cellulose paint waht ratio should i mix it for the coats. what base primer is best what do i need to do?
cheers

James

synthetic paint is easier to use and obtain.
I used 8:4:1 paint : thinners: hardener and got pretty good results for a first attempt.

i dont think you should use cellulose,if you are not sure what paint your landy has had put on in the past you can get a bad reaction.
as trewy said synthetic will go on top of just about anything, and you can get a good finish,i allways use fast flash thinners to about 30%-40% depending on how thick the paint you are using is.
cheers celtic

fast flash thinners u use less of and it speeds the drying time up.
just get a primer/undercoat the same make as your fininish coat, with synthetic no hardner to add as it,s not a two pack paint .
when you have applied the finish coat leave it for a couple of months to harden properly, then you can polish it.

Have you thought about using rattle cans? i know quite a few people who have painted there mini with them and acheived quite good results, as with any paint job though the level of preperation will be the key to the finished result

i used 2pack on my 110.With a good mask on a nice day.Havnt died yet.
2 pack, thinners and hardner.Jobs a goodun.I just flattened off the old paintwork and sprayed etching primer onto any corroded patches(afyter rubbing and filling them)

i brush painted mine nato green last weekend went on a treat! got shed loads of paint left didnt use 1/3 of the tin (5ltr) and that was with 2 coats!.... perhaps i should update my avatarr

Easy Enough Job? I'm Planning On Turning Mine Into The Desert Camo Pattern But With Same Method And Proper Nato Paint Too, Then I Might Go Up Hills Better, Reduns Dont Like It.

yer it was great fun... the paint was £37 for a 5ltr tin from anchour supplys( A local army surplass place) in Ripley, Derbyshire. Then we put a coat on saturday morning and another on sunday morning. jobs a guddon
