split rear doors

Hi, anyone got any ideas how I can open the lower part of the split rear tailgate, I can hear the locks releasing but the drivers side seems jammed! Upper half opens fine as does the passenger side on lower bit but just cant open it,anyone got a clue or is it a case of forcing it i.e the old hammer & chisel!

Classic, P38, L320 or L322...????

Push hard on the door when pushing the release button. Or as you can get the top open take off the trim and move the lever rods from inside the car.
