This question has been asked before but with no clear answer.
I have a 1997 300tdi auto, and the speedo keeps failing then coming back to life, get to about 70mph and it fails, but comes back to life a few hours later or the next day.
Is this a common problem and is it an easy fix?
Any information about this problem would be very appreciate.

The answer has always been clear and that is " first check the electrical connection at the transponder is clean".
