Hi, Can someone please advise me as to which NGK plug I should be using in my 1991 90 V8. At present the plugs in the engine are Champion N12YC, if I look on the NGK site for their equivalent its a BP5ES but then I read that most of you seem to use the BPR6ES. so Im confused. If it helps or makes a difference, our fuel here is all unleaded and the SU carbs have been replaced with an Edelbrock four barrel carb and headers. The engine has done just over 43,000 miles.

BPR6ES is the all round favourite but that is mostly since the EFi revolution everyone has forgotten about the old specs.

The R is just for suppression but use them if you want to avoid radio noise, and the 5 or 6 is likely to be the plug temperature although I'm not expert, nor could i tell you which number is hotter or colder.

I have never however seen any reason to believe why a RV8 wouldn't be happy on BPR6ES although higher performance motors do tend to use colder plugs (the electrode tip is more hidden inside the plug body)

So, urm, up to you a bit really, I'd bosh BPR6ES in it and get on with something else tbh :D

Hey thanks for your reply, I am at least a bit better informed now, and will go with the BPR6ES.
