I have a 2000 4.6 , I was going to replace the spark plugs today with a set of NGK BPR6ES ( having read that they are suitable for my engine), so got I my 19mm plug socket ( which fits the BPR6ES) and plugs and set off to swap them over, however the 19mm socket is way to big for the plugs in the car, they look about 14mm, question is, although the plug spanner required to remove/replace may be different sizes would the actual plug be the same as it fits in the engine? I didn't proceed because knowing my luck i would break something

Simple enough to try out on the nearest plug Derrick. It won't cost you any extra and you can compare the threads of the 2 plugs.
I should think that as long as the business end thread is the same and the hex part of the plug still fits into the spark-plug well then it should be fine.
Does NGK list the plug as P38a compatible?

I read through a lot of old threads on here about it and NGK BPR6es were deemed a good replacement/alternative to OEM/ Champion, I will pull a plug tomorrow and compare them , I was just curious about the hex size as I thought that the hex would be the same .

I use BPR6ES in my 2001 Thor. no problems.

always best to turn a plug in with your fingers down the thread until you need the socket to nip it up. and spark plugs don't need to be whacked up tight to 100+NM

over torqueing and turning it in with a socket are the best ways of knackering the threads
