Could you fit a towing cam or something along those lines ?

That new V8 I fitted was out of an auto and when I asked the local guys they said that should have a towing cam to provide more low end grunt cos of the auto box or something along those lines ?

Next up, I've bought a 1.4 transfer case to fit to the disco, as part of my quest for motorway economy the MS boffins have decided that my car is over geared.

It's a 22D suffix C unit and the plan, with help of the factory rebuild manual, is to strip it down and rebuild replacing any overly worn parts.

Not going to get carried away trying to make it like new, but it's the only component on my vehicle I haven't had any dealings with ever, mainly because its faultless!

Anyway so I decided to strip this one and see what's what.

I've been toying with that idea for a while .. wondering if instead of swapping cases from Disco to Defender, if it's just a case of different shaft/gearset that can be changed and overhaul the thing at the same time ..

Can't seem to get a definitive answer and can't afford to fettle with it yet anyway ..

Intermediate gear set needs changing, but Ashcroft charge like 200 quid for the gear set, I just have 50 for this transfer box.

Gonna strip it down just for good measure but hopefully not find too much that needs replacing!!
