My ear wouldn't get any closer to the speak on my iPad. What a great sound! Nice system with good clearance around the chassis too.

I say is that scratches around the body? Had fun recently? Lol

Hi guys

Cheers for the comments. Yeah it still sounds **** wherever you listen to it, i know :D

Anyway!

The design brief was mild steel, 2.5" throughout, centre silencer with skid plate, no protrusions under chassis level, and a hidden rear pipe with downturn, again for clearance. Oh, and enough volume!

I'm very pleased to say that is EXACTLY what I got!

It is deep and burbly low revs, tbh it's rather quiet on tickover, but above 3000rpm it is feckin loud I'll tell ya. Nearest thing I can compare it to is the standard muscle car sound. It does indeed sound very proper, no uncontrolled rasp, just pure power noise!

Me happy :D

Cheers Daz :D

Fuuk ya it sounds good. It really performs too! Very pleased with the results.

Next?

Adjustable panhard rod from QT. I've been putting it off cos they're a sneek over 200 quid, but I've needed (lol, wanted) one for ages cos the solid one wrecks the bushes when the axle articulates which doesn't help my wheel shimmy tendencies, and I can properly square the car up cos I'm sure the front axle is not quite in line (because of the suspension lift)

I've actually had it on order since October 3rd bit they've been waiting for the Rose joints from Germany apparently. Anyhow, it should arrive sometime next week they say.

Once that's on and the associated problems of fixing something that's not truly broken are adjusted out, then there is probably not another single item I can fit to the car that would be any use to me. It's a nice feeling knowing that it's complete and I'm driving a fully sorted Disco, but at the same time it fills me with emptiness cos I havent got anything to do in my spare time. It's kinda like Meccano for me - it's building it that's most fun.

However with that in mind I have had an expensive couple of months on the car so a wallet rest would be appreciated and I need to bulk up some cash for Christmas beer.

Of course it's not all over because next year, February/March time I want to sort the valve train on the engine, with a hotter cam and new followers, and new pushrods and rockers of necessary. I also need a new cam chain, as I get a lot of mid range part throttle jerkiness, which I put down to slack in the cam chain etc.

So thats a long way to answer your question :)

Well done with the front page mate...I recognised it as soon as I saw the mag on the shelf as I saw the pics you put on here a while back.

So far I've blanked my EGR but your pics are an inspiration!!! Gonna get stuck in after xmas.

You want to do a "list of mods" so if gives us all something to think about ;)

Was surprised that the feature in the mag wasn't longer but they probably only have a certain amount of pages per issue for stuff like that as mostly its all adverts!!!!!!!

Hi me again. So three inch lift and bigger wheels mm I think that is my first mod for my k disco after repairing rear arch panels. So what tyre size and wheels ?? Mine is the standard tyre 235 70 16 etc I will post some pics of mineafter doing the mods

Have had a read through and theres alot of good ideas, one smart looking disco you got going there!!

I have just done a 2" lift with some 31" tyres, looks like this:

And a pic I took of it against a standard model:

That looks grand. Did u have to trim the rear wheel panel and front wings ? Are the steel modular an standard. 17 inch wheel ?

I had to trim the front end caps, I cut them right back. The rear I havent yet but I havent tried it on full articulation yet so am expecting to get me hammer out at the weekend and make some 'technical adjustments'.

The wheels are from Paddocks, 1 piece 15" wheels, I went for 15's as I already had the tyres from my last off roader, it worked out cheaper to buy them and sell my old ES alloys (still avaliable if anyone wants them ;)). They are 1 piece, means no leaks e.t.c.

Not sure about a list....sounds too organised for me!

Decat pipe coming on friday.
Chip and K&N air filter priced up for after xmas at Twisted Performance.
Then I guess its intercooler and silicone pipe time??
Not so sure if I could lift it or do anything too extreme to the suspension as we use it to pull a horse box...Dont want them GGs falling out the back!!
The power would make for safer pulling though.

Im new to Landrover so all suggestions welcome!

Ho Ho Ho Merry Xmas - well I thought that I would be the first to wish eh

Your vid is great. The sound is just as I remember from my days. Very nice indeed.

Rockers and cam eh. I would go with roller rockers and solid followers. They are worth a few extra bho and the rockers will be better at high end rpm.

Camp chain slack isn't something I experienced. I would go for an adjustable cam gear so the timing can be set degree perfect.

Good engine and I'm jealous. My colleague at work is really trying to get me to put a V8 in mine but I just can't justify the expene as it is going to be my everyday motor. But hey I will just put your sound track on my videos lol

Thanks for the tips matey.

I've read a bit into it, some cams require solid followers, some don't. I heard it is better with hydraulic followers because they allow a certain amount of give on higher lift cams that improve low end running. Not sure?

I know I'm open to ideas for the next few months anyway!

Yeah I was planning an adjustable cam gear thingy. I dont know what the problem is with the jerky thing in the mid throttle range, it's like there's a bit of slack/give somewhere and that's why when it's not under full load or full overrun its not quite sure where it's at!

Other than that I can't knock it cos it does run right sweet, to the extent that I'm reluctant to take the heads off.

And yes, I definitely would not be fitting a v8 to a car I needed to run everyday. I don't like to tell you brother but with 33s and 10" wheels it may start to brass you off a little also!

I'm very ignorant to all things that I don't agree with and therefore very blissful. I think 33" tyres will be much better for fuel economy as they will be turning less per mile - oh it's a flying pig cooolll lol
