Hello,

I've been a member for a couple of years having previously owned a Disco 300 tdi and more recently a RR P38 dse. I've just got rid of the P38 it just wasn't viable both economically and practically to use all day every day for work and the family. 20,000 plus miles a year etc. I now have a Mondeo diesel esate. Very sensible, but.....

I am thinking of buying a Series 3 to use at weekends and spare time. I am not mechanically minded at all but want to try. Would you in the know have a look at this on eBay and let me know if it's worth a punt for an absolute beginner?

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

Looks a good one esp for a beginner. Taxed and Mot'd. Take it for a spin before buying and have a good look at the chassis as a bit underseal can cover a multitude of sins.

As long as the chassis and bulkhead are sound they're fun vehicles to learn mechanics on. It's like a giant meccano set but with much bigger spanners.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I want something with a good MOT so I can get a year's weekend motoring at least whilst I am learning. £1500 seems to be about what I could afford to lose, sorry invest and insurance seems to be about £100-£120.

The one in question sold before I could get to see it. Never mind. I am looking at this one in the morning which is very close to where I live. I've spoken to the owner who has given me the history. I think I prefer it, being a station wagon. What do any of you think? He has told me he would remove it from eBay for £1800 - £1900, which seems fair bearing in mind all the work done to it.

Details below and thanks again for taking the time,

Andrew
