can anyone put some light on this problem

thanks

OK, what landie,
what year,
what engine,
what on earth you doing 70 & 80 for!

sry it was a long day after getting left at services buy the first recovery as he didnt have the hours to run me north of the boarder then a 3 hour wait until some one with a full lot of work hours

p reg disco 300 tdi 2.5
as to doing 70/80 mph i was on the motroway and other discos were passing me so i dont think 70-80 mph is anything ott

were they disco 3/4's by chance  discos 1's ain't meant to go that fast

apart from speed limit 70-80 is good for the engine if cooling system etc is in good nick ,head gasket is common ,especially if cooling system isnt perfect ,poor rad (not getting hot all over ,thermostat stuck ,low coolant level ,expansion bottle isnt necessarily good indicator of actual level in engine,)you need to look so see if coolant problem or turbo etc ,if you remove hose off turbo you can check it ,plus condition of hoses to inlet manifold

my 200 tdi is happy at 75 ish on the odd occasions i find a bit of road thats suitable....usually m5 or a303, it will go faster but i aint in that much of a hurry.

from what a neightbour has just said how do i tell if its the turbo , and is it an easy fix

theres oil in the air pipe running from the turbo unit to the air filter
the landy wont turn over

Just to be clear about this - are you saying that when you try to start the Disco, you turn the key but the engine doesn't turn?

Does it making a clicking noise when you try to start it?

had time to look into this more i think it the turbo thats gone :-( thers no conpression
its off to a local garage tomorrow to be fixed i hope

thanks for all your comments
