I am looking to buying a winch, but I am at a lose when it comes to choosing. I am looking for either a 9.5 or 12 with Synthetic rope.

Out of the following, which ones can be trusted:

  • Warn
  • Warrior Samurai
  • Come Up
  • T-Max
  • Superwinch Talon

I'll be honest, I like what I see with the Warrior S12000 SAMURAI 12 000lb.

Had Warn on my classics and on the front of a p38 manual 4.6 a while ago - no problems front or rear. Warrior and Super looks interesting.

Yeah, the Talon looks rather like the Warrior, the only thing is I can not see if it can be controlled wirelessly. The Warrior S12000 SAMURAI 12 000lb can be.

I have looked into the Warn ones and they seem like good units, but their price seems a tad on the high side when you look at the two above. I have also heard that a few of the mid-priced units have a few things in them (motors etc) which Warn themselves use to build their units.

PS Stopover, with that P38 + 6.75Lt you really can call your Range a RR.

TU16 yanks mine out no problem. TU32 is a lovely bit of kit but a bit heavy. My lad would struggle with it.

Go mine off a well known auction site. You'll need 15m of decent cable and some straps to anchor around trees or the like. All but the winch itself fits in the spare wheel. I also keep a decent towing strap in there, just in case.
