After 7 years of ownership I finally sold my Td4. Having taken it for it's MOT last October it has remained at the garage slowly deteriorating. It had passed the MOT but with an advisory on the gearbox due to a leaky bearing . Garage sorted this apparently. However since then it had a nasty shake and was very noisy. Gearbox was changed again, then the thing would not run. This was traced to mouse chewed wires behind the dash. The roll cage had to be dismantled to get the dash out in order to sort the wiring. All the time the garage was using the Freelander as a mobile tip. Then a phone call out of the blue in March from 2 guys who had seen it outside said garage and wanted to use it to compete in the Freelander Challenge . They made me an offer I could not refuse as the day before I had been made redundant from work. I went to the garage to meet them to do the paperwork and found that the tailgate handle had been smashed off, the carpets were soaking wet and covered in mold and there was some sort of oil spilt in the rear, along with various old Freelander parts.
I took the Freelander over in October ready for the MOT. The car always gets vac-ed out and is clean when it's taken for the MOT. Needless to say, I got what I wanted for the Freelander despite the current condition.
