Sold Volvo and ...........

Hi, Sold my Volvo 850R and brought a TD5 auto X reg, but before I can enjoy it, it has started to drop on the left near side when left, but will level out within seconds on starting, done a search and worked out that it could be the air bag? - thanks to all - but Land Rover want over £200 + vat each, any ideas where else I can buy them please? - also the air con gets cold but comes out warm/hot on drivers middle air vent, any ideas?

Sounds like a bad airspring, but you'd be advised to make sure that is the problem first. Get a can of leak detection spray, put the SLS up to off road height and spray away. Open a door to make sure the SLS does not drop the car back down while you are under it. The open door disables the SLS.

You can get Dunlop OEM springs but the fitting is slightly different over the Genuine one. These sell for around £140 or less.

If the spring appears OK, check the valve block at the other end of the pipes in the black plastic box under the passenger chassis area. An O ring could be leaking here.

If you get a chance, put the thing on T4 and see if there are any sensors (electrical) fault codes on the SLABS ECU.

The ATC problem is probably related to a flap no working, or you are just getting the heat from the heater matrix come through the system. Bit of a design fault I'm afraid.

You can get the air bags from paddocks for about £75 each. There is a good guide on how to fit them on www.discovery2.co.uk

I to used to have a 850,then we went got a disco lol. Some td5 owners have taken the air bags on the rear off and replaced them with coil springs. The bags seem to go alittle more often than they should,where as replaced with coil springs gives alot more time,to repair other things that can go wrong. Anyways welcome to landy ownership,or should i say the weekend repair club lol.
