Snorkel test

Im after some sound advice again pretty please everyone,
Well I've finally sealed all my air box, drain bungs and fitted new pipe clips..
So-now to test my air intake is completely sealed-do I just shove a coat over the snorkel intake and wait for engine to die? Will I damage my turbo if I block air intake this way?

You could put a plastic bag over it and no doubt the engine will start to stutter but that will not prove it is 100% sealed. Have faith in what you have done, your cab is more likely to fill up than your snorkel... it will get you through providing you have fitted it correctly.

The best practical test is....if your balls are wet and the engine is still running the jobs a good one

If you put a plastic bag over the intake it will probably just eat the bag or collapse the snorkel tubing. If you try to stifle a diesel engine by blocking off the air intake chances are you wont be able to. I once had to try and kill a JCB digger engine that had been hot wired and started by the local scrotes. All efforts to block the intake were fruitless. Trying to stall it was a non starter cos it had an auto box. Only way to kill it was to find the diesel cut off solenoid and pull the wires. Not easy in the dark with no tools.

When my mate fitted a safari snorkel to his 200tdi, we just took off the top and i held my hand on it, as he listened for hissing where air was coming in, more sealant etc. once sealed it stalled after 10 seconds with my hand on the top.

As far as i'm aware it won't damage you engine doing this but i'm NO professional
