Heloooooo landy fans!
got 90 td5 and thinking of fitting a snorkel- but which one? firstly will it make any differance to mpg, also should i get forward facing one which i take it forces air into engine when you are driving or should i get a mushroom shaped one, whats the differance? help i'm confused(my wife says i am quite often!!

cheers landy lovers

Get one that travels along the chassis, attaches to the brake lines and exits by the exhaust. It will be well away from the warm engine and wont catch on branches etc. There should be a 12.85% increase in mpg.

The mushroom type - if they are designed properly - function as a pre-cleaner. Very effective at removing dust and grass-seeds and bugs etc. before they hit the main air cleaner. They generate a centrifugal force which dumps the rubbish to the outside and out of the main air flow. These are extemely common in any equipment working in dusty conditions.

But not sure if you have much dust....... if not then probably not much difference.

And would'nt expect differences in fuel consumption - snorkels are about keeping crud (wet and dry) out of engines.

Can I add to the mayhem....

I have a 90 that we converted from 2.5NA (ex MOD) to a 200 TDi. Problem is there is no hole in the wing for the air inlet to attach to so I have the hose lying loose in the engine bay. I was thinking of fitting a snorkel but all the ones I have seen seem to attach to the wing via the grill hole. Is there anything out there that comes complete and will just allow me to cut a hole and attach the hose?
