Hello

My MOT is due in about a month and one of the studs on one of the turret rings snapped off on me a couple of weeks back, will it fail the MOT if I don't replace it?

Just spoken to my baby bother who is an MOT examiner and he said if he spotted it he'd fail it - no questions asked. Its what holds the front spring in place and supports the weight of the motor so effectively its part of the structural suspension mount point.

A bit like a leaf spring hanger which can fail MOT due to surface rust or a slightly worn bush. We all know of motors that have done thousands of miles like this with no problems but with one bolt sheared the spring turret effectively has a 25% reduced support capacity.

I guess you could glue the broken stud back on to fool the examiner but they are cheap and easy to replace so why not?
