you tell us then as that is the issue at the moment and as you is a MOD to settle things and your word is gospel after all;):D

Now yer just being silly but if you want to know....

YES! :p

Some estates have restrictions specified, in theory an effective ban is possible but is usually kept to a restriction within the building line......As 110w says there's hundreds I suspect the latter.

You can use them as an extra bedroom or room but you have to be able to prove a 'shared connection' with the house which basically means you can use it as any room you like but not as a seperate dwelling.

You can even connect them to the houses services so long as it remains moveable

yes i do say.do i question what you do or not do in your country.so why do you do it when it has nothing to do with you in anyway.

saw potential problem and asked a question is all, did look first with a search and that was why I asked my question to Sam? And this kicked off, all for asking a question.

As you guys seem to have rather strict zoning laws compared to the Uk. And that is not allowed in residential areas here. ( large group of houses next to each other) like you got there

Ok you can, here but they have to be road worthy and licensed(taxed) which is a small few. But then there is a stipulation to how many days they can be there before they have to be moved.

So ask a question to learn how the natives work and get a slagging;)

Thank you BB for your answer:tea:

How do you liscence and tax a trailer? Had an irish lad ask if the reg number was different on a caravan to the tow car once when getting some insurance...

it's the way you ask it,as though you are questioning someone.

Here they have a vin#, so tax on sale to DMV and then you get a plate for life of vehicle. and it stay's with the trailer no matter how many owners until it is scraped, then plate is destroyed

That is why I asked, But yours are licensed to the towing vehicle? as I have seen where both trailer and towing car/truck what ever had the same license plate number?

So there has to be some form of tax and license system

if it attached to car they become one vech. If parked on road not coupled to car you can be told to move it but if coupled to car they can't do a thing.

No....you have to put your vehicle reg on the back of a trailer or caravan when towing on the road so the vehicle can still be identified from behind....that's about it. You can swap your vehicle reg between caravans.

There is the Caravan Registration & Identification Scheme, most caravan manufacturers are members since '92 and each caravan is given an id number and registration document similar to a vehicle V5 that is amended each time the caravan changes ownership. But it is only an ownership and identification document.

There....fook it.....did it all again

To clarify ..

A car or motor vehicle needs licensing (tax) etc .. caravans have no official licensing at all. There are a number of private registration (CRIS) systems but there is no legislation requiring the licensing of caravans at all.

In most cases they can be parked on the owners land, even in cities, if they are behind the building line unless there as been a covenant or local council law to stop this.

They can be used as a bedroom, providing they are not used as a dwelling.
That's about it .. very few laws covering them at all, what 110woman is intending is probably completely legal, especially if in a rear or side garden. It might be frowned on in a front garden, but unlikely to cause real legal trouble.

Help Help I'm been forcibly evicted from me Pikey wagon.. Some one has laid a trail of Cake crumbs to try and pure me out  :D

I won't go over what everyone else has already covered except to say that NO trailer or Caravan (Except for HGV trailers) in the UK needs any form of legal registration or taxation, at all. and can be parked on the driveway or if parked on blocks with the wheels removed where they then become a temporary building or SHED!!!
