Hi nice Freelander types :)

Quick (hopefully) question, Our Dragons freelander wouldn't start last night in supermarket car park so I had to nip down to find her & rescue my little damsel in distress.

I asked her to turn it over after checking the lights were bright & eliminating the battery, all I could hear was an electrical clicking, very fast but not loud.
I pulled a relay marked "SM" which I assumed was for the starter motor & gave it a tap & it fired up.
So questions are :
Is this the starter relay?
Is the relay goosed?
How much are they?

Thanks for any help.

it's a 53 plate petrol engine......I know..I know...:(

Rapid clicking is usually associated with either the battery on its way out or dirty battery terminals or earth lead connections. Especially check where earth cable is fastened to the chassis/engine.

Yes
Yes, its clicking cos it's stuck in one position (flicking it released it)
About 10-20 quid
:D

Thanks lads,I'll get her to pop down to the landie centre & get one for piece of mind.

Broke down again :(
AA man found a dirty terminal on the starter & it started so hopefully thats it sorted.
I gave the red cable a good wiggle on friday so thats probably why it fired up.
