Hi Guys

just giving my Disco 2 td5 a run after lots of work. I also blanked off the EGR valve. which I thought made it more crisp. Well I got a shock its sluggish it drops a gear and goes nowhere. have I done something wrong or not done something I should have?
MOT day tomorrow too and the back wiper has just stopped working.

What year is the vehicle and how exacty did you blank the EGR? i mean did you unplug the solenoids and fitted bypass pipe or how...say everything you did

Once the planking kit is put in place is there some other valve that needs cleaning? a friend has been googling and said there is but I cant find anything.

Cheers

you say that you have done a lot of other works on the car. Why do you think it is due to EGR removal. As I know it is a simple modification (I also have done it on mine) and should not couse such issue.

It’s a 51 plate. I used the proper blanking kit and did it as it said ?
i really wanted to help you but if you read again post #2 then your cryptic answer(again)

... i was interested EXACTLY what you did cos i don't know what that bolded part means for you:confused:.... cos those who sell products don't care much about how you do it... though as long as you responded to my question with this sh*t answer that "did as it said" while i tried to figure out what is your problem:
.....did you unplug the solenoids and fitted bypass pipe or how....
but you didnt give any clear info on this then i'll let you be the man and fix it as said by others. Good luck

Hi sorry for the delay but work beckoned.
in answer to your question I removed the EGR valve and pipe to the manifold. cleaned off both faces. on the manifold I fitted the small blanking plate. then to where the valve was I fitted the pile and connected to the silicone hose. also a small pipe 1 or 2mm I removed and fitted a small rubber blank. that was all for that.
other works was brakes all round front springs and suspension bushes. aircon radiator and fan, power steering pipes, last but not least new flanges to the exhaust and rear 1/4 chassis.
is there anything else I should have done for the EGR? it has passed the MOT today so that's one good thing, although my wife said there is lots of advisories. More work.

Thanks for the response. I have added more information below. I hope I have missed something.

Unplug the EGR solenoid's electric connector and tie it as to not touch earth, check fuse F2(engine bay) to not be blown and clean the MAP sensor, insist on the pressure side of it, the small hole in the bottom must be clear of muck

Check what Frey mentiones above. If no success go through all thinks you have touched during your other works and check what wires, connections sensors you could have damaged/removed.
What do you mean on that?

Better ask somebody to rev it and check to not have a boost leak, make sure you didnt disturb the turbo pipe to the intercooler while you fiddled with the blanking plate

I have checked and it does rev to 4000 but I couldn’t listen for boost leak as I was on my own. Will keep you informed when I get to it on Saturday.

Cheers
