Slow filler

Ok here we go
I have had a freelander Td4 diesel 2002 year model , just a quick question regarding filling up at the pump ......... it takes ages as the pump keeps "clicking off" as it would appear that the fuel is "foaming up" and fooling the pump into thinking that it is overflowing. To solve this i hold the pump to the edge of the filler however i is taking almost 5 minutes to fill up and it is just so slow ................ do i have a problem ? or is this just one of them things :doh:

Some muppet previous owner probably dropped a filler nozzle fall down the filler pipe .
