Sloppy steering

Hi i am new to the land rover world so expect some crazy questions but will learn as we go along.

can any one tell me how to tighten the steering on my 1988 LR90 TD it has a bit of play when on the road. also front prop shaft seems a little slack into th transfer box. Do I need to contact the samaritans or is this an easy fix??:doh:

adjust the steering box but not too far as it will make it even worse.

try the steering column ujs see if they are fooked..

by slack into the transfer box what bit exactly is slack?

tyres can play a big part in steering feeling a bit vague on the road what ya got on it?

Tyres are 235 70 16 not on standard rims seems to sit quite high. the transfer box looks to be leaking slightly and if you grip the front prop it will turn in the transfer box slightly is this normal? get a bit of a knock when changing gear at low speed. I have not had a landy before but from speaking to people will be able to re build it/fix it reasonably easily hope to teach my boy how to do the easier jobs cant show him on a corsa because they run on witchcraft. Sorry for the slow response but am on holiday so internet access was slow.
