Still having issues with this. At one time or another the detent/plungers were available as a kit under ULA100040. Unfortunately this part number is now obsolete. It's looking more like i'll have to have something made thats more durable and serviceable. I'm unable to do a wanted post yet to see if anyone has some spares laying around :(

My lever is like that. Had a crunch one day and felt something go pop in there is now much betterer. I don’t want to fix it it’s always been like that if I change it now itl feel weird.
The earlier ones like mine have a brass clip/spring thing in there that goes.

Its the selector detents that have failed on mine. Selecting third and fourth takes some time, coupled with a worn box it makes for slow progress :(
There's one of these either side of the selector housing which is spring loaded. Over time the spring loses tension and the bearing goes sloppy or falls out completely. Luckily i've managed to source a couple of NOS sets so will be getting some spares made up.

@jamesmartin might know where to get them. The R380 went in quite a lot of models but I don't know how much is interchangeable.

As James has already mentioned, they were specific to the P38 only due to the extension housing. I've managed to get two sets coming so I can get some new ones made for future. I've two manuals with a third on the way so they'll always come in handy lol.

Let me know how you get on. I have a spare extension housing in the shed with knackered detents I am planning to fix one day.
I now have one that suddenly refuses to go into reverse. Done what I can at the stick end but wondering how to get the whole linkage off? Can it be done from above?

Does the lever move to park? What displays on the dash when you select reverse?
It's likely to be the cable that is seizing up, an under the car job at least in part.

You might be lucky if you drop the back of the box down, the selector pin is known to wear and come a bit loose, does the leaver move to the reverse position and just not engage in position.

It felt like it wasn’t going far enough to the right to go in, so I adjusted the limit bolt at the stick end and all was good for about a week.
