car came back today after having a replacement engine fitted. Very happy except the throttle had a lot of play in it, I tightened the cable and now it is fine however the other cable is now very slack I assume this is the kickdown cable ? but it doesn't have the ability to take the slack out of it or am I being a complete arse ? :D

it doesnt have a kick down cable
 
Simple job,

Just loosen the nut on the LH side of the cable bracket, adjust nut on the opposite side until slack is out of cable & re-tighten both nuts.:)
 
the thread at the end is sort of broken (not damaged) but there is thread then it stops then more thread then it stops

Adjust other end, vacuum housing, see RAVE

Check
1. Ensure that the throttle cable is correctly
adjusted.



2. Check for a 0.5 - 1.5mm gap between cruise
control cable cam and throttle cable driven lever.


Adjust
3. Rotate cruise control cable adjusting nut to give
a 0.5 - 1.5mm gap between the cruise control
cable cam and throttle cable driven lever.
