Different engine, probably a different torque converter, so the answer will be no.Right need a simple answer yes or no and the reason why!! can I fit the td5 flexplate on to a p38 diesel as they are the same box??
There is no connection between the flex plate and the gearbox, it bolts to the engine flywheel with the ring gear on it and the torque converter bolts to the flex plate, it is the other side of the torque converter that connects to the gearbox. Why would you expect the M51 flywheel to be the same as a TD5?I know tho the gearboxs are the same I can under stand the torque converter may be different and the bell housing pattern but why would they make different flexplates when they are both triangular in shape with the same amount of bolt holes
Where from iv been looking hence why I asked the questionJust buy one for the M51.
The picture I had of the P38/M51 flex plate showed it as circular, it came from RAVE so no idea if it was correct as there are many errors in RAVE.I know where it bolts to and all, and well if you look at a td5 flexplate and p38 flexplate you tell me the difference as far as I can see there isn't any they are both triangle in shape like have said and the both have the same amount of bolt holes I dont know if they are in the exact same position but from what iv seen in images they look identical
Look at BMW suppliers or Opel Omega.Where from iv been looking hence why I asked the question
Not the flywheel I'm on about i am on about the flexplateThe second picture is a thicker flywheel.
So, the flex plate is probably available from Ashcroft Engineering, they do a range of flexplates both circular and triangular.First pic is a p38 second one is a td5 hopefully you can see them
Because they are completely different companies that do not work in conjunction.why would they make different flexplates
The V8 flex plate is not the same as the diesel.Loads about
V8 is versions are transferable I think, but not sure about diesel
