Hi guys,

Since I'm almost back in the running for a new landy (Mrs Middle approves) I've started noticing the buggers everywhere!

With all the recent thefts freshly in mind I've been pondering about this a lot.

I would think that, if a landy were to walk itself off your drive then, the plates would be changed over at the first opportunity. Which means that keeping a list of stolen landy VRN's to hand probably won't yield too many results.

Thinking about it, it's not hard to, very quickly, change the appearance of a landy.

So, what does that leave us with? The Driver.

Now, I understand you lot to be quite a friendly bunch, and landy waving was very popular in my neck of the woods when I had my previous two.

Why not have some kind of badge, that can be seen head on (when most of you wave - as there is never any landy vs landy overtaking!!) which ID's the car to a fellow landy owner as someone who would respond to a wave... This could even be some kind of secretive wave!

Anyone not responding to the wave may be a bit suspicious and worthy of memory!??

Thoughts??

I think a tin HAT would be better.;)

I find fitting a winch helps people to wave at you.:p

as there is never any landy vs landy overtaking!!

 if a landy in front of me is being driving like it's going to a funeral or is spewing out black smoke I won't think twice about passing it, or is there some LR convoy rubber ducky moment I've missed out on:confused:

We drive easy to nick car's, best treat everyone as a thieving toe-rag;)

Now, I understand you lot to be quite a friendly bunch,

Wow, you really are a noob! If you visit the 'Anything Goes' section, you'll soon realise that we really aren't ;)

I nearly always wave to folk - normally get the unfriendly farmers who give you the look of 'who the fook are you?' but ah well

Occassionally though i'll be in the middle of a tricky bit of gear changing whilst indicating whilst explaining the finer points of black holes to the other half whilst taking a drink whilst the landy is jumping out of high box and the steering wheel is coming off in my hands - so - occassionally realise when its just too late that the friendly landy guy coming the other way has been waving frantically at me. Last thing i'd want is to be reported as a miserable git / stolen landie due to a slight moments lack of concentration.

That said - best flash / wave i was given was across 6 lanes of motorway as i left Drifield and some guys were heading up - both in the far opposite inside lanes chugging along and got this flash and wave all the way from the other side - made be smile no end :)

if yu are driving a series - yu have enuf probs trying to kep it in a straight line, without evaluating the traffic coming in the other direction. :p

haha, INCOMING!!!!:fighting:

Well.... It's always nice to get a wave.

I was thinking about waving on motorways yesterday whilst coming down the m61... Chances of two landies being in the fast lane on oppo carrigways at the same time.. pretty slim i thought! Still across 6 lanes of traffic is pretty epic - well done that man!!
