Side steps

Recently purchased a pair of second hand side steps, the chap I brought them from said they came from a discovery but should fit my defender. I finally got round to fitting them yesterday after managed to borrow a nut rivet tool from a mate. Bad news is they steps dont really sit right. They are slightly lower at the back and both a bit too far in. Tried looking on ebay for just the brackets but no joy. Can anybody here shed some light on how I may be able to sort this?

I cant see how these would fit without some fabrication and welding being involved. Two different vehicles entirely.

Best just to get the right ones. Aftermarket side steps are only about £35 and fit well.
The aftermarket rear steps don't fit so well, when the step is down it's not straight.
But the side steps are OK.

Think I figured out how to get pics from phone to pc, was harder trying to figure out how to post them on here. As you can see the side steps are on but are lower at the back than they are at the front think I can fix the problem with a bit of flat steel watch this space as they say

I'd just sell them on Ebay and get the right ones as they are so cheap to buy. But if you've already bought and fitted the Disco ones then l guess you may as well modify them so they fit properly.

if your talking about the little fold down side steps I didint want to fit them as they look like they hang down under the vehicle quite a bit and would probably get smashed off when off roading

Ah, right. Yes l was.

Side steps will just crumple off-road, or even green laning if you're not careful ..

yup Paul thats why I said I didint want to fit those types of steps.

No, aftermarket tubular style side steps, like those you fitted, crumple like a straw .. Unless they're actually rock/tree sliders ...

And if they are rock/tree sliders, you want more than rivnuts to hold them on ...

The fold up ones don't really stick out much if you have remembered to fold them up!

well decided that I'm going to remove them and put them up for sale on ebay. will just have to save up for a set of rock sliders
