Hi all. Recently swapped my 21 yo P38 for 2010 L322 TDV8 3.6L.
Fitted with aforementioned deployable sidesteps which work OK. However, manual says remove sidesteps before jacking car with provided scissor jack.
Removed the 4 Allen screws securing step to brackets, but step still well and truly secured!!
Tried jacking, very lightly, under side step with screws removed but nothing moved before I lost my nerve! Also tried tapping partially inserted screws with tapometer, but again no luck.
I have seen YouTube video of guy cleaning side steps off the car, but he clearly had no problem removing them as that part of the procedure wasn't even mentioned.
I have sprayed around the fixing screws with penetrating oil but I am concerned not to damage the whole thing by using too much force.
Any suggestions gratefully received. Kind regards, Phil Taylor

Sorry can’t help.
But I will say it’s scary using the provided jack to change a wheel.

Do the side steps cover the jacking point then? Guess they do. Seems like a right faff if stuck with a flat at the side of the road.
Got any pics?
