Hi All,

'99 Series 2 TD5.

After some advice.... ABS Light has come on recently Again and Again, it's been on the memocon and flagged up "Faulty Shuttle valve switch intermitant"

It had a new shuttle valve switch fitted approx 2 months back due to a Fault (3 Amigos, light went out for about 6 weeks then started coming back on again:mad:

.....What are your thoughts?

Thanks.

Rob

As always with ABS stuff, the devil is in the sensors and wiring etc.

I'd be inlined to have a sniff round the sensors and check that you haven't got a wire that is abraded or a loose sensor. Front ones get more twisting than the back, so check the fronts first.

You need the disc off before you can get at each sensor, but that's just the CSK screw on the disk after the wheel is off.

Cheers for Reply Peter...But surely if it was Sensor related, It would show up on the nanocom, and not point at the 'shuttle valve switch' ??

Not always, and I don't know why either!

One of these days I'm going to have a play with a laptop and a bit of interfacing and just see what information is given by the system.

If it was the shuttle valve, there would have to be a good reason for a repeat failure, and possibly warranty claim if it was carried out by a dealer, so check that first.

This could be as simple as tightening up a nut behind the LH headlight, there is an earthing point there for the modulator block. With the car on Testbook you can view the shuttle valve states as live data, also the earth reference point, this MUST show 0v all the time.If there is any potential difference across that earth the shuttle valve switch values will be implausible - hence the fault codes.
Being that the code states intermittent there is also a possibility of it being caused by low battery voltage during start up.
Early production cars also have poor software in the SLABS ecu, which is too fussy, the later part # think its SRD500070 is much better.
It will be nothing to do with wheelspeed sensors,so best to leave them alone,as they often dont reseat properly after removal which only adds to the problem.

Very interesting, I shall go and have a Tamper!
Thanks for your help.
