Shudder

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum and land rover, I've got a Td5 Disco II 2004 automatic model with 110000km ( 68350 miles approx ) on the clock. Just yesterday all of a sudden ( Isn't it always ) while driving the car picked up a shudder ( almost felt like it was going to stall ) It's a automatic for crying out loud, anyway got her home turned the car off and switched back on all was fine took her for a test drive and no problems, then this morning again while on the highway at about 40km ( 24 miles ) p/h I noticed the shudder again, anyway got to work, stopped her and started her again and it's gone! Any ideas before I take her in ?

don't think it's got owt to do with the box, more like engine type of being a bugger. dirty fuel filter, fuel pick-up etc. when was the last time she went for a service??

I'd agree ... fuel, air filters at least.

I had a Jeep Cherokee ( Go on give me some stick but I saw the light and bought a Disco after it cost me lots of moolah :doh: ) that did exactly the same thing and it turned out to be the temperature sensor but unsure if it would affect the tdi in the same way , if I was you I would check the filters like the other guys said and if all fails get a diagnostic check .

if what a2w says is right the sensor should be under the cover on the top of the engine half way down the middle. It will have a black connector on it and you need to use a socket to get it out.

Looked around my mates disco the other day and his is just hanging on there, its bloody broke......down to rimmer bros then

Isn't this a symptom of oil getting into the wiring loom from the top end and affecting the ECU?

Thanks for all the replies guys, last time she was servied was about 10 000 ago, so I'm going to take her in and get all the filters replaced and change the oil as well. Also looking into putting some injector cleaning liquid in.

Shot for the help, awesome to be part of this.

Oh and please don't use swear words like ECU last time someone said that to me it cost me R30000 ( about 2100 pounds )

She is back, all new filters new oil and also asked for some injector cleaner. And after +- 20 minutes shudder lack of power starts again. What s the next avenue ?

check for oil in ECU the loom.. plenty of info on this if you search it out.

Hi yes i did ended up being the injector that needed to be replaced, the guys need to hook it up to a computer and tell you which one
