@Rich in Vancouver , that shot of yours with the seats up, does that mean the seat back folds flat, then the whole seat pivots up forward? Leaving a flat floor?

The seats in the FL1 tumble forwards, giving a reasonable flat floor. It is shorter, than if just the back rest is laid down, as the seats take up quite a bit of room when tumbled forward.

Cheers for the reply Nodge, sounds interesting, another option for load carrying.

The folding seats are quite handy. Folded for everyday use but set up in seconds for occasional passengers. Like Nodge says they do take up a fair bit of space though.
The space under the seats in the rear footwells is a good spot to stash small packages and similar stuff out of sight.
One of the Hippo's few failings is there is no secure storage space.
A local tool shop sells lockable steel Job site boxes that would be a perfect fit in the back. I have been tempted to pick one up.

There is literally no space under the boot floor so that's out, and the box I am looking at is the size of an army barracks box.
It is painted with a black wrinkle finish so it would be relatively inconspicuous in the black interior.

Odd I'm certain the one I went to look at had a little hatch, pretty sure it even had a lock on it if I remember correctly.. but then I don't own one (yet) so i am in no position to say!

The Freelander 1 does have a lockerble storage area int boot floor but it's small. Often referred to as the fish tank as they fill with water if there's a lot of condensation or the tailgate window seal leaks.

Mr. Hippo is correct. The cubby contains the jack, and there is just about enough space to hold your lunch.....or a couple of small Koi depending on your leak situation.

my fish tank is actually perfectly dry, no space in there though - it's full of harman kardon amp

Only the sub is in there. The actual amplifier is under the passenger seat.

Thought I ought to pop mine in this thread. Took this today just now after picking it up from it's MOT. Failed, but nothing too bad. A ball joint dust cover perished and headlamp aim low on one side. The ball joint cover is a bit annoying though as I had new ball joints not that long ago. I think I'll just do the cover rather than the joint itself mind.

The electronics were already there Rich, it's where LR put the sub (thanks for the info Nodge) if it was spec'd with the multi cd/satnav. I've not really paid much attention to what is where but now I know it's only the sub I can look at changing it - as the bass is frankly rubbish I can investigate a new sub.
I've never managed to get the satnav to work, it says something about incorrect aerial (I think), that's if the faceplate actually lights up! I'll change the headunit at some point but I'm still not sure if I'm keeping the Freelander yet.

Old picture now, but nice and muddy! Pretty standard, running standard profile Yoko Geolander GO15 All terrains (can't fault them! )

The period-correct dealer-fit LR body kit actually helps contain mud splatter - so it's not all bad! LOL
