My P38s some shade of midnight blue. Nice but has lost a bit of lustre and I've been thinking for a while about a respray. The other day I saw a really smart one that was mid grey and another a sort of sage green so am thinking of a lighter shade this time. Thing is, up to now my C-pillars have fairly blended in but on a lighter body colour they will contrast quite a bit. Should I paint them?

Personal preference, but if you do customise it you can make it harder to resell.

Have you thought about having it professionally machine polished? The resukts can be quite startling and it has to be ££££s cheaper than a respray.:)

get it vinyl wrapped, cheaper than a respray and if you find it is hard to sell you can get it removed and put back to normal.

how much for a vinyl wrap for a rrc?

Alot! I phoned a couple of places for a quote on my L322 which surface area wise can't be too different friom a RRC, and they were saying £1500-2000. And it only lasts 3 years then you need to get it re-done. You can probably get a full respray for £2k if you search around a bit.

So at the moment vinyl doesn't seem like great value in my eyes. Maybe it will get cheaper as more places start doing it and competition pushes price down.

i got a quote for a wrap on my subaru and they wanted 1150 + 250 for door shuts etc so not really any better than a paint job other than the fact it can be removed

We have a "landslide" in favour of painting them - 2 out of 4 votes! :)

I think I will actually. Thanks for the tips on vinyl - a little skeptical as don't know much about it as in how easy to botch the job, what happens if there are carpark scratches or dings, what's left of your paint underneath when you go to take it off, etc.

Anyway, next question, anyone got a P38 with painted C-pillars they want to post a pic of?

ps. Derek, I get it polished once a month. Its in as good nick as it can be but there are scratches and a bit of paint wearing away around the door handles, filler cap flap, chips off the shutlines etc. So a fresh coat is probably the best route.

Just get it muddy then you won't see the scratches.

Much cheaper!
