OK just replaced the head gasket :clap2:

skimmed head
3 hole OEM head gaxket
Payen gasket set
new head bolts
full decoke, but not as bad as I imagined
all oils changed, while waiting for head to be skimmed

On putting it back together, just a couple of hiccups.........
the heat shield for rubber air pipe from turbo needed repair
trying to set tappets ( valve clearances, or what ever you want to call it)
couldn't turn engine over with crank nut, got worried about problem in rebuild until realised that it was still in gear

Shoe box of gaskets slowly emptied, as they were used until I had a running engine but some left over

The ones I have accounted for are
EGR valve gasket to manifold (EGR removed no biggie)
fuel pump - not disturbed

but I do have 9 (nine) copper compression washers about the size of a 22 mil fibre tap washer

Didn't take anything off that had these on, but obviously head gasket replaced in the past by some one so not totally convinced that they should not be in there somewhere

Any one know where these should / will fit?

I'm hoping that they reside under the block or some where else I have not removed so not come across

I had the same decoke kit and found they were actually for something when doing a 200tdi.

Scrappy - £5000 a ton now - so say 5p!!!!
