Possibly a dumb question :D

My D2 runs stock suspension.

I recently fitted a new bottom bush to a front shock (cheers for the help Neil!) due to an MOT advisory. I noticed that with the shock disconnected the axle could articulate further, about an inch or so. Is it always the case that the shocks limit the travel or else the spring drops out? Or should the rest of the suspension system limit the travel?

Reason I ask is that will the shock be under too much strain at max extension and thus lead to it snapping. That being the case, should I fit longer shocks so that they don't reach full extension? :whoosh:

you can add +2" shocks without any issues, but anymore than that brake lines, ABS cables need to be extended...

Ah, I see what you mean (I think!) - the +2" shocks allow further articulation in the standard system without letting the spring out and without needing extra length in the lines, correct?

Yup, but if/ when you do fit them, jack it up just to check it's all free on max articulation on all 4 corners :)
