Shock Question.

I have acquired a set of pro comp explorer ES9000 shocks from a friend. I have had a bit of a look round on the net and can not see any reviews for these shocks or any info on whether they will provide any increased articulation potential.

Over the next year I am planning on upgrading my suspension. I believe that my defender has a set of springs that give it a 2” lift. But I don’t think anything else has been upgraded.

I have read loads of guidance. Including this http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=12063 which I found very helpful. I do intend to do a proper upgrade for off road use and not just a 2” lift for on road aesthetics.

So my question is. Are these shocks gonna be any good ? First indications are that they are not going to aid my articulation quest.

HI, I recently fitted a set of ProComp shocks all round. I found the ride was softer and more comfortable than the ones I had on before. ( Can't remember the make but they weren't standard ones)
What I find now with the ProComp is when I put a heavy load in you feel it where as with the previous ones you never noticed anything.
When I go in the forest and fill the back with tree trunks now it sways when cornering. Before it didn't. It still manages to carry the load. I think the verdict is summed up by saying: better for normal day to day driving but if you are going to carry heavy loads its more tiring to drive. I would still get them again. They will get a real test when I do my Morocco trip later in the year. One good thing about the ProComp is the shafts are much thicker than the previous ones I had which ended up breaking and the back spring popped out of its housing. Oh, I found the articulation is much better as they are softer and give much better grip when on snow or in mud.

Great. Sounds promising. Does anyone know any specs ? Along the lines of they are +2" extra or something similar ?

i used to run pro comps and there good but was told you cant buy them new now av just upgraded to terrairma +5 shoks

Bought mine from Paddocks, they still have them on there site: PM1088 £27.50 for the front
and they have them with 2" or 4" lift.
