shes froze solid i cant open the doors the battery is on charge in the shed but i have had a good look around her and ( this amazed me )

the chassis is solid from the front axle right to the rear crossmember wich is brand new theres patches here there and evrywhere some want re doing as i dont like the look of the bird**** holding them on the only rot i can find so far is right at the front end of the chassis legs

can anyone show me a pic of where exactly the chassis number should be as theres so much tar paint and underseal on there i dont wanna be grinding scrapuing an sanding evrywhere forever and a day to find out im looking in the wrong place

ive only just got home now so its too dark for me to take pics so ill get plenny up in the morning

another thing is i cant get her started coz the ground is practically a skating rink and it just skids when towed (whadda bastid ):mad::mad:

by the looks of the wiring it needs a total re-do as its made up of allsorts of **** infact hang on i could nip out n get one piccie i suppose jus gotta get jaymie to bed first ( so exited due to the snow )

I am looking forward to the photos Johnny, glad to hear its a good one. Sorry, cant help you with the chassis numbers positions but they must be within a foot of the front end as the numbers get covered when the front dumb irons get replaced.

the dumb iron being the very front bracket welded to the chassis for the front leafspring

as i mused toi defender and disco dumb irons ( the welded on part for the front shock trumpets )

yea the bit by the front spring hanger that has usually got pigeon **** splatter all over it

this part of the chassis is factory neat and showing all traits of never being welded but its laced in engine oil and underseal i think its been leaft on purpouse to try and preserve the chassis numbers or maybee its just been treated that way i dunno but the grinder is comeing out tomorrow :D:D:D

dont grind to hard the steel might be softer than the underseal!;)

worn out 80 grit sanding disc on rsoft rubber backing attatched to the 4" angle grinder ( polishes more than rubs ) gets a mirror finish on even the thinnest steel and shows even microscopic light scratches and hammer marks :cool::cool:

been out earlier to try and take pics wifff me fone but theyre not worth putting on ( wont focus ) and the main camera has a flat battery so its on charge for the morning but ill get a load on before i start me day

i gotta fix the cam belt on me mondildo so i can get the trailer back to landowner ASAP trust the friggin car to let me down eh ( must be jealous or summot and want money spending on it )

probably get up mega early to get the landy started n shifted into me yard ( safely tucked away ) then start on the jealous one grrrrrr :rolleyes::rolleyes:

yeah glad you got it back ok, you couldnt have picked a worse day lol

im lookin forward to seeing the pics tomorrow

hey i picked the day a long time before the weather did its just sods law really its not the first time him upstairs has tried to stop me with my plans and ive got sick of letting it happen so i just ploughed on regardless :D:D:D

righ as promised heres some pics

firstly the entire thing now shes not an inch thick in ice

still filthy though

now the only bit of tinworm i can find on this chassis is the usual suspect on the front dumb irons but nowhere near as bad as i expected and i was armed with a 14oz ball pein hammer

a few comedy patches there wich will be cut out and redone properly when i finally get chance as i like to see perfection round anything loadbearing like that

but heres the real shocker i expected to find the rear crossmember bodged together looking like a patchwork quilt splattered with allsorts of pigeon **** but no

so imagine my elation if you would when i saw these next pics

so far so good whats on the other side

hang on its not a dream that actually is a genuine brand new ( ish ) rear crossmember and looks to be a reasonably tidy and trustworthy job been done
the outside of it dont lign up too bad either

now the really ****ty bits wich are gonna be fiddly and time consumeing on the anvill and press brake is the bottom of the front grille pannel

give me a mo lads as i need to upload a few more pics here

pick up where we leaft off with the front pannel other side this time and

and the rest of the chassis is just fairly rough surface rust just needs a damn good wire wheeling and treating with a shed load of red oxide then a few coats of chassis paint

now thats all the pics i got of the chassis but i got more pics so look lot here comes the bulkhead :D:D:D:D:D
