Slightly OT question - what's that lever on the bulkhead for? Looks like a heater control of some sort? My S3 doesn't appear to have one, not sure if it's cos it's later than yours, or just been bodged/removed by a previous owner (someone's lined the inside of the cab in rubber matting)!

it looks like something to adjust the tick over when your running farm machinery off the engine

Ahh - the hand throttle control wotsit? Cheers :)

its a hand throttle idle lever alright and i have on the back of me gearbox some king of spline output shaft connector ( cone shaped cast thing with a roller needle bearing inside with one end open )

im pretty sure its some kind of coupling for a pto shaft it must have had fitted at one point or some kind of winch drive shaft used to slot into it

funny though it dont leak any oil out of it but the gearbox /transfer boxes are full :confused::confused::confused:

been cleaning sanding grinding and buffing all afternoon on the drivers side front chassis leg even gently tickled the comedy patches off lookin for the chassis number on this bugger and im dissapointed to say its not there ill put some pics up of where ive been looking in the hope that someone can point out ive been lookin in the wrong place

generally ive done the outer side of the drivers side chassis rail from the front spring hanger all the way back cant find it

is there anywhere else i should be looking ???

if i can prove its year of manufacture i can then get it on an age related registration i have the engine and gearbox numbers but need the chassis numbers to relate the engine and box to

dont look like you will find it its been replaced with a patch first pic was in right area

thats not a patch mate thats where ive carefully peeled a patch off the original metal was a pigeon **** weld and ive cleaned the original steel underneith with a wire wheel as lightly as poss but absolutely no sign of a stamp or anything :confused:

number plate ?

it dont got a number plate nor a v5c its come off a sheep farm where it has never had a reg for the last 30 years ( known history by the fella that owned it and inherited it from his dad )

im doing all this to try and find out what agew it really is and also if the original reg is trundling round on a defender hybrid somewhere illegaly thats my little way of sticking it to the criminal underworld ( if its non existant ) such as scrap or export or just lost in the abyss of time i could apply for an age related reg

the last thing i want is a fekkin q plate or to have to buy a chassis with id from some thieveing scumbag :):):):)

yes you need to be careful i did a hpi check on one of mine as come from dodgy scrappy didnt want to reg number and loose truck if reg was been used somewhere else, cant the bloke you ought from remember redg number for you to hpi
