Morning all, was gonna sell me car after the last visit to the garage, but it hasn't stayed working for long enough yet!

Anyway - here's the latest problem :(

1.8 Xei 2000 - got back a from the garage couple of months or so ago when it was loosing power to the point of not moving.
The chap in the garage fitted a new ignition kit and it worked fine.

About 2 weeks ago, the car started to loose power again. Not so drastic but the whole car feels like it is wobbling
When I start it, there are various clicking and tapping noises underneath and the whole exhaust seems to move back and forth. It sounds as though it is mis-firing from the intermittent noises coming out of the exhaust too.

Haven't actually moved it for two weeks cos been too scared too and the garage where we got it done is 50k away.

Any ideas oh knowledgable ones?

Need to clarify whether its fuel or electrical, I would check what the garage have done, Check the HT leads are all on tight
Check the levels - Oil & coolant

After that give the guy a call and see what he can do

Im not familiar with the petrol so someone may know of an issue

It will be your dizzy cap on the 2000 model,

the excessive engine movement would suggest worn lower or upper tie bar mounts.

I have modified these, but if you are gonna sell, then leave well alone

How have you modified them? Out of interest.

To be honest, wouldn't even know what they were!

Got in this morning to try it out and it turned over but wouldnt start...bugger
It kicks in now and then but can't get going - will have to look behind the dizzy cap etc.

Am going to look at a citroen bx with 336k on the clock for €500 - reckon that'll last longer :)

Done several versions, first was a composite insertion rubber with shock absorber rubber. they used 30mm alum bar, although the original bolt housing can be used.

yu floggin em on e-bay yet, NI?

No not yet, gone but not forgotten, I reckon I can cut the rubber packers to size and supply some of the industrial adhesive too

Again have you got anymore info/pics of this mod as i think mine are going.
seems to be quite a lot of movement when accelerating and breaking
Thanks
D:eek:

Will try and update the thread on engine mounts, it goes back to Jan 2007. Been testing the mounts all this time. Showed my neighbour who is a Ford mechanic, he was well impressed. pics still to come

The central carbon contact for the coil might have disintegrated, assuming you have the dizzy cap and not the coils. Coils werent fitted until late 2000/ 2001

Stick with the hippo, your only reasoning for a french car would be cheap parts;)

the chap told me he had replaced all the ignition parts with an 'ignition kit' including the coil?- it's a 1999/2000 model

it's a shame it's so nice to be in - cos it's a heap of
Thanks all for your clues anyway - will phone my man and see what he comes up with
