Hi, I've got a 2003 TD4 ES Freelander who is shaking us out of the car! On cold start it smokes quite badly then the whole car shakes side to side on tick over.Have tried Redex fuel injector cleaner but it didnt work, Car was serviced and mot'd in march 08 problem started in August! Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing it, it makes our teeth chatter! HELP!!!

First check would be Engine mounts, then things like Flywheel, balancers etc.

Don't have a Freelander so can't really help anymore, but that's where I'd start ...

your problem is a faulty or partialy blocked injector (90%sure ),,,,at low engine revs the spray pattern will be causing poor combustion , effectivly its firing on 3 cylnders,,

to test and find out which injector is the problem,, first remove the plastic engine cover, then while the engine is running remove the connector to each injector in turn, you will be able to tell which is causing the problem,,
