The M62 is not prone to HGF, not unheard of, but not hugely common either. If it has overheated, the heads warp with ease, and that can cause HGF..... @biketeacherdave is now a dab hand at getting the heads off the m62 and doing a rebuild!!!

If it was all cylinders down on one bank, that is most strange....research required on potential causes for that one!

Thank you Saint i will get her back first and go from there. Yes i have spent time reading the M62 rebuild today the recent thread and was not amused at all the hard work undertaken and still not right

Update the hpi check is all good

They got it going in the end - had a cam 180deg out.....

Yes indeed but it lives just an abs sensor tomorrow then reconnect the LPG and its a daily drive

Tester a bit over zealous with his dangerous to drive listing.

This is an occasion where I bless my lucky stars that my Brother in Law is the MOT tester.

I suppose but a fail is a fail

Long day and the recovery truck just got the RR to it's new home. The RAC somehow knew the RR had no MOT on it and made me pay £341.00 to get her home but on the plus side the car has 2 key fobs @Datatek the car is mint inside and out too which i am delighted about. Just got to sort the main issues, The RAC guy done a sniff test and confirmed exhaust gas in coolant so deffo a HG job and maybe more

For HG - you'll need the locking and setting tools for the cams, flywheel, VANOS units and timing chain tensioner.......

No this is a keeper I have broken a few P38s over the years and breaking is too much like hard work

You can get kits on Amazon or ebay - search for M62 Locking Set or such similar iterations.....

The cheaper sets are just that, a bit cheap, and whilst it *may* do the job, it can depend on the tolerances they have been made to - some from the same manufacturer will fit spot on while another will either not fit at all or be sloopy!

The Sealy kit is around £350 - the set I have was over £600, but sets can be had between £100-£150 at the cheaper end of the market.

So with everything fixed how much will this have cost you?
