I have been searching for a nice condition early L322 4.4 and found a very tidy example a couple of weeks back. The motor was a classified advert asking for a sum of £3250 or offers. I messaged the seller to offer £3k and was advised he would consider the offer. The car was advertised and the description said the RR was to be given a fresh MOT to the buyer. Now here is where this transaction falls apart, the seller advised that the car was booked in for it's MOT and due to the fact that it passed but had an advisory of front lower suspension arm bush he wanted to get the job done for the new owner and my offer was no longer acceptable and he wanted the full asking price and was under pressure by other interested parties and pointed out he had 45 watchers. I declined his demand to pay the full asking price and confirmed my original offer stands. The next day i had a change of heart and went against my gut feeling and was drawn towards the buy it now price of £3250 and so a deal was done. We chatted on the telephone and the very well spoken chap was clearly a RR fan we exchanged pleasantries and i arranged to travel the 200 miles to collect my new to me motor. On the evening before i was to travel to collect and pay the agreed price in cash a text message from the seller "Do not travel down as the garage has not done the work yet" , okay no problem give me a shout when it will be ready was my reply. 2 days went past and another message to say " I am so sorry the car has passed the mot BUT i had the garage do a pressure test and gasses were found in the crankcase and can't sell you the car now as a suspect head gasket failure call me if you want to discuss any further. I called him and the guy sounded truly gutted and during the phone call he said he would be prepared to sell me the car for a mere £750 this i agreed and paid the cash into his bank. I paid for insurance and ready to go and collect in the morning I have just had a look on the check the mot status on gov.co.uk and found out the car failed on 2 dangerous defects a coolant leak and the declared front suspension arm bush + a lot of other advisories your thoughts are welcome

So you have bank transferred the £750 into his account before collecting it / viewing it in person?

At the moment personally this looks like a scam. I really hope it’s not though
