hi all ive been quoted 150 for a service on my td5 do u think that sounds about right that includes all oil changes 2

Filters and oilS come to about £70-£80 (including axles, gearbox and transfer box). Whats the cost of the hourly labour rate like where you are?

What are they doing for the service? Greasing props? Checking wear on discs and pads? adjusting handbrake? changing glow plugs? Checking antifreeze?

It all depends on what THEY call a service.

thanks for you replys.what should i be asking to have done on a full service as my knowledge is limeted as not had landrover before

My indy wants £260 for an intermediate service and £365 for a full one.
He has a large wall chart which grades most vehicles and the prices are set depending on what grade your motor falls in. It also lists what you get for your money.
I'll be doing it myself and spending the cash I save on beer.

I always estimate about £150 for a service unless I find anything hideous wrong with it.

A service from me means...

Oil and oil filter change, air filter change, spark plug (if applicable), pollen filter (if applicable), top up brake fluid/PAS/windscreen washer/anti-freeze/gear, axle oils as applicable and check and grease UJs as applicable. Check all brakes (which means cleaning and servicing drum brakes).....also.....

Check suspension components, condition of steering, check all bulbs, condition of wiper blades. Any replacement items found in that lot (including worn brake compoents/UJs etc) are extra to the £150.
