does anyone no of any series or defenders for sale at the bottom end of the market as i wish to get into 4x4s and every time i see one on be-gay they are reasonable price but miles away from me, i want one around the essex or hertforshire area
thanks

do you check autotrader, ebay and the landrover mags regularly? It may be worthwhile getting yourself down to a dedicated auction even if it means a bit of travel

ive checked autotrader not much on there, but loads on ebay but there all in cornwall or derbyshire none near essex, there is a lovely one down the road from me old old s-reg but he wants £3500 and i dont wanna pay that much to possibly wreck in a field or river lol

Forget Landymags their allways over priced and the subcribers get em a week before they hit the shops so any bargains are long gone before you get to look at the ads. Be prepared to travel and figure the cost into the price of buying it. I got mine from the West Coast of Jockland.

If I were to get another one an had limited money I'd get a spares or repair one an do it up, there's a good chance your going to do this anyhow with an older vehicle unless you've got plenty of time and are willing to traipse about looking for it.

An before everyone starts shouting "I got a good un for two an six an it was only down the road". Yes there are good uns about but for every one that dunt need owt doing to it there are kin loads of knackered ones pretending to be good uns.

im willing to travel but with ebay you could travel miles like what you see then someone beat your bid then all that time wasted, i was just wondering if anyone knew of anywhere else that wasnt a auction site, i have found an 1979v 2.25 for sale mot just ran out and he wants 450 for it do you think this is too cheap

Depends on why he didn't stick it in for an MOT. Put your self in the sellers shoes. If you were selling an you had a good landy for sale but the MOT had run out. would you re mot it so that you could get a good price for it? If you knew it was shagged would you sell it as it was without putting it in for an MOT? keep watching em on Ebay when you see something you like stick it in the watch it list and you'll soon get an idea of whats good and whats not and the sort of prices their going for.

Someone who has nothing to hide will email you loads of pics. if you ask. If they don't seem keen to do so then chances are their hiding something.

yea thanks thats not a bad idea really, got loads in my watch list already and the ones i like i always forget about them or the person cant veiw it till tomoro so ill miss them ones too

sounds good what needs doing to it as i havent got no space off road so it will have to be fixed moted and taxed pretty quick, like i said i dont mind travelling but dont wanna bid on one

this one isn't for you then, will need some welding (by rear cross member and maybe some other bits) brakes and suspension recommissioning, a roof fitted, some door tops (the ones on it are ropey). It hasn't been on the road for 5 years, It may need other stuff! I will probably have my sherpa one for sale in a few months time, I'll bear you in mind if you are still iunterested. I'm driving that one every day at the moment.

ok mate thanks, keep me posted and ill keep looking on ebay, with no luck probably, seen a few parked on driveways not used around here so gonna give them a knock over the week hopefully will have some luck there

was looking at that earlier but again its so far away to get there and it be no good, although it is buy it now so its not as bad at least you know the full price when ya go

im willing to travel but with ebay you could travel miles like what you see then someone beat your bid
If you see one you really want you ought to bid for it properly, not fanny about trying to get it for nothing then moan when you get outbid. The good thing about ebay is you've got plenty of time to ask loads of questions, maybe ask for some more photos, and weigh up what needs doing and how much it might cost, rather than going to a traditional auction where you find out about all the **** stuff after you've bought it because there wasn't enough time to have a proper look and nobody to ask about it. If you buy on ebay and it isn't as described you don't buy it, simple as that.
